Overview
A big loop through our little corner of Hawke’s Bay.
From October 2027, Blackburn Ridge becomes a journey through the farm. Stay at The Valley Homestead on your first night, then walk through hill country and native bush to Blackburn Homestead for your second.
The next day, follow a different route back through our historic redwoods, or choose an optional e-bike ride via Ongaonga village. Finish with afternoon tea and a swim before heading home.
Arrival/The Valley
Arrive at 4pm and settle into The Valley Homestead. Enjoy the pool dinner and your first evening on the farm.
Day One/Valley to Ridge
Set off by 10am, Walk to Blackburn at your own pace while we transport your luggage. Nonwalkers can drive around and arrive after 2pm.
Day two/Ridge to Valley
Leave Blackburn at 10am. Walk via the redwoods or choose an e-bike for $100 per bike.
The Journey
Two days of walking, a different homestead each night.
Only share bedrooms with people in your own group. Book for more than eight guests and the experience is exclusively yours.
A night at The Valley Homestead and a night at Blackburn Ridge Homestead, with a pool at each.
Enjoy chef-prepared meals by Kate de Latour, with breakfast, smoko and lunch to keep you going.
Comfortable beds, linen and luggage transfers are included.

Built in the 1930s, The Valley Homestead is full of character, with established grounds and a large swimming pool.
Settle in for your first evening, enjoy dinner and make yourself at home before the walk begins.
